Kathryn Jean Kees

At the beginning of August, we got some very exciting news!  If Baby Kate did not arrive on her own, Heather would be induced on August 12! Naturally, we all began making plans to be in Fort Worth for the debut of Miss Kathryn Jean and counted down the days until we would meet our newest neice.  It has been so hard to be apart for a lot of Hezzy's pregnancy, but I am SO thankful we were able to be there for the labor and delivery of Baby Kate.. it is such a sweet memory we will cherish for the rest of our lives.
Here is Mom and Hez, the day before Kate's birth!

One day away from being PARENTS to a fresh and newborn baby!
24 hours before Baby Kate joins the party!

Baby Grant is teaching Baby Kate how to do knuckles.

The new daddy-to-be and beautiful Aunt Hilary!

The whole family went out to celebrate the night before the big day at B.J.'s and experienced our first Pizookie party platter...  which is a giant cookie that's bigger than your face. Yessss indeeed.

While waiting for our ginormous cookie, we made our guesses on Kate's arrival details... I think Jen beat most of us out.  Dumb.

The red velvet, chocolate chunk, white chocolate, and triple chocolate cookie of your dreams. :))
It was literally the size.. and depth.. of a large pizza.  We actually couldn't finish it.. which is saying a lot when Pops is on your team! ;))

August 12, 2013
Heather and Jason left the apartment at 4:30 in the morning..  Hez said she slept surprisingly well, but I don't think Jason slept a wink.

We all woke up BEYOND excited to finally, finally, finally meet our new baby girl TODAY!

Our first time to see Hezzy!! She was in such good spirits and was so happy to see everyone!

And everyone was so happy to see our Hezzy!!

We had all waited a long time to see this board..
But I don't think anyone was happier to see it more than Heather!
She had carried Kate for 41 weeks and 3 days..  10 days overdue!
"WELCOME BABY KATHRYN" was a sight for sore eyes! ;)

The proud grandparents... ready to meet their 11th grandbaby!
And here is the Kees family...
ready to meet the baby that would make them grandparents for the first time!

Love this!
Especially Grant's face of terror as he listens to the genuine Brinker squeals that are just a part of life. :))
Here was the BEST face Heather saw all day.. the anesthesiologist!
When he gave her an extra shot of the epidural, she said, "Do all the ladies love you??"
Hahaa, this is one of my favorite pictures of the day!

Last picture as a family of TWO!

Unbelievably, the nurses and doctor allowed Jen, my mom, and I to stay in the hospital room as Heather delivered Kate. It was overwhelming and amazing and left us all speechless. Jen and I cut the cord of our precious neice and the bond that was instantly formed between all of us there is so unique, so powerful, and absolutely life-changing.

Our beautiful Baby Kate weighing in at 9 POUNDS 10 OUNCES!!!!
Love at first sight..

Their first family picture!
Meet the Kees family, party of THREE!

Baby Kate, this is your adorable Grammie who will teach you how to love Jesus, how to play the piano, how to plant flowers, how to ride a pony, how to bake bread and cook vegetable soup...

... and your precious Pops, who will teach you how to love Jesus, how to mow the field, how to play spades, how to drive a stick, how to change the oil, and how NOT to air condition the outside. ;))

And I am your Aunt Lissieeeeeee!!!!!  Hiii!!!!  I can teach you how to bake, how to organize, how to plan an all-out slumber party, how to lower the air to a cool 72 during the summer when no one else will, and how to save your first kiss for the man you'll marry.

And here is your Aunt Jenny!!  She can teach you how to garden, how to can, how to spot a good bargain, how to order cookbooks online, how to get a good tan, how to entertain crowds and be the most hospitable person in Texas..
But most of all, I hope we teach you how to love Jesus well.  He is all that matters and it is a joy, a privilege to know and serve Him..  We pray that your heart longs after Him and that we can be salt and light in your life, always, always pointing you to Him.
You have so much to learn, Baby Kate, and we can't wait to watch you grow.
The next morning, we arrived bright and early to love on Kate!

Kate's sweet going home dress:

Baby Grant couldn't believe Kate was really here!

One proud Grammie and Pops.

Sweet new daddy with his sweet new daughter.

Beautiful baby girl!!!!

Isn't she the sweetest little thing you've ever seen?!?!

Kate reminded us so much of Heather as a baby...  big and squishy!!!  We kissed Heather's cheeks raw as a baby..  and it looks like Kate will be carrying that trait on!  She is just so dang kissable!

Grammie and Pops with three out of four of their grandbabies born this year:
Luke Henry, we missed youuuu!!

 Pregnant 3 months ago...

And our blessings that have arrived safe and sound, happy and healthy:
Lord, all glory is Yours!
"I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made...
Your works are wonderful,
I know that full well."

  1. Glory to God!!That is all your dad and I can say!!! Glory to God for all our new grandbabies and their safe arrival!! Thank you, Jesus....
