O is for Octopus!

...and W is for Water! For two weeks, we learned tons about octopuses and other underwater creatures, as well as water, solids, liquids, and gases, and most importantly, about the Living Water that renews, sustains, and strengthens our souls!

We started our week off by heading to church!  Here are my three squishies!

Our homemade octopuses! (And Brother's bag of chips!)

Our octopuses were even filled with beans so that we could use them to sing and dance around the house to praise the Lord! "Let every creature praise His hold name for ever and ever! Psalm 145:21"

Sweet little honeys!

We went outside to read lots of books about underwater creatures!

Grant enjoyed snack time! :))

Learning terms like half, quarter, and eighths, we then cup up a hot dog and created an octopus!!!

Ready for its dip in the sea!

Curling up!!

Tah dahhhh!

So cool!  I had never seen this before and thought it was SO cute!

The following week, we learned all about water! We touched on the water cycle, read books on the attributes of water, and did a small experiment on things that sink vs things that float!  Here is a picture of the beginning of that:

Each day we talked about a different stage of matter - solids, liquids, and gases.  We looked at water in each of those forms and discussed other examples of each!  On the last day, we talked about how various items mix with water.. some will dissolve, like salt:

But others are tricky, like oil, and will simply float on top!!

No matter how fast you stir it, oil and water will separate (because oil is lighter than water!)

Just like our bodies need water, our spirits need living water from Jesus!  All we have to do is ask and we will never thirst again! (John 4:6-14) Thank you, Jesus, that I have tasted and seen that living water! I pray that my children recognize their need for it and ask You to become their Living Water so that they may never thirst again!
