David and Goliath

This summer, we decided to try something new..  Year. Round. School.
Stay with me.

We have such a good system going and it seemed like a waste to completely stop everything for 3 months.  We are slowly, but steadily, keeping up with our studies throughout the summer and you would be surprised.  The kids don't really mind it!!  Sure, occasionally, they say, "But moooom.  It's Sunday.. in summer.. at 8 o'clock at night."  Hahaa!!  But for the most part, they get their own books out and are ready to get started!!  And how could you NOT want to do school when Daddy's home and is willing to act out the Bible Story with you?!

The happiest Goliath I ever did see!!

Our mini-Goliath!! Hahaa!

Savannah represented David.. with really more of a boulder than a stone, ha!!

She yelled, "I come against you in the name of the Lord!" and then...

Goodbye, Goliath!
(Mom Tip:  Kids LOVE re-enacting Bible stories. It is probably one of the best ways to get them to listen to all the details, ask questions, and cement the story in their hearts as they physically and mentally participate!!  Win win win!!)
Also, yes.  She is holding Goliath's head.  Maybe I shouldn't be giving out mom tips after all.. Hahaha!!

The next day, we had our little David playing his harp for King Saul..

...until King Saul had had enough and threw his spear at David!!  Thankfully, he was able to leap out of the way just in time!!  {1 Samuel 18}

My little Bible students.

They thoroughly enjoyed switching roles of who got to throw the spear and who got to leap out of the way.. there's some pretty dangerous stuff in Scripture, ha!!

After school, we did some work in the yard..

AND some work in the kitchen.

Wadie taught Andrew how to make some mean scrambled eggs and bacon!!  Training them up right.. ;))
Life's little lessons.. so sweet and simple in the moment, but I am praying they are all being pieced together to create gentle hearts that trust and love the Lord in all things.
