Our Favorite Fair - Part 1

At the beginning of October, we got a text.  From Hezzy. Reminding us of the very important, super life-changing, annual event of the Leesville Fair!!!!!  We went last year and had so much fun together, checking out the pampered chickens and pigs, homemade jams and jellies, and whirly, twirly rides!!  So we marked it on our calendar and the night before our trip to Anacoco, I made these Pumpkin Streusel Muffins.  Because it's not really fall until you bake with pumpkin!! So fun and so yum!!

We planned to go up a day early and spend some time visiting together before heading to the fair the next day. Of course, with Heather being Heather, upon our arrival, she had two kinds of apple cider simmering on the stove for us to taste test!!  One was Pioneer Woman's (mom's favorite) and one was Paula Deen's (my favorite)!!

Mom brought Caramel Corn, something she has made around the holidays for as long as I can remember.. and we seriously couldn't shovel it in our mouths fast enough!!  It is a treat beyond words!!
Heather had planned a whole fantastic camp out, complete with fall drinks..

..two types of cornbread, vegetables, and a huge pot of chili!!

Fun drinks are my weakness.  The punch can make or break a party for me, ha!!  So it was so delightful to sit and sip on Hezzy's delicious, warm apple cider!!

Hil even made a homemade Butter Pecan Cheesecake!!  What a great night!!

Thank you, Hezzy and Jase, for always being so very hospitable!! You have such a life-giving home!!

After eating, we headed outside to work off our dinner..

Samuel was absolutely terrified of the horse, but Grammie got him to go closer and closer until he would finally pet him without crying!!

We just love the big backyard where there's plenty of room to hold hands and take a walk together.  This was not staged, but is so perfect to me!!

What little farm is complete without a kitten or two??

We ended the night with an outdoor movie!!  The kids laughed and laughed at Jason's computer screen up on the side of the shed..  They thought it was the neatest thing and kept trying to press all the 'apps.'  Ha!!

Everyone got some popcorn and a warm drink and watched the new Cinderella movie.. and I think even Brother enjoyed it!!

And here I am... sipping on another cup of cider.  Hahaa!!
After the movie, we took baths, got in our jammies and headed to bed.  We needed our rest to gear up for all that fair fun the next day!!!!!  Part 2 - coming soon!!
